Free
range is a method of farming husbandry where the animals are supposedly
permitted to roam freely instead of being contained in any manner.
Organic farming tries to avoid the use of synthetic fertilizers and
pesticides, plant growth regulators, and livestock feed additives.
Free range farms are poorly regulated and only address confinement.
In many cases, these animals are still subjected to inhumane practices
associated with transportation and slaughter. The organic label has
little or no impact on how humanely the animal is treated. |
