Product Updates/Changes Application for Foods, Drinks, Supplements, and Personal Care and Household Products
Application Fee
There is a minimal submission processing fee (based on your company’s revenue from the previous year) that must be submitted at the time of your product submission. This processing fee is per form submission not per product (maximum of 10 products per form submission). This is REQUIRED to have your application submitted in the processing queue.

Time Frame
The process usually takes 4-6 weeks but may be longer for larger submissions.
Criteria
The application must be submitted by a legal representative of the product(s)/brand/company. We do not accept applications from consultants, distributors, suppliers, or co-packers.
Each product must:
- Not contain any ingredients from animals, including human-derived ingredients, meat, fish, fowl, animal by-products (including silk or dyes from insects), eggs, milk, honey, or sugar filtered with bone char; liquids such as beer, wine, or fruit juices filtered with animal products.
- Not contain or be sourced from leather, fur, silk, feathers, down, bone, horn, shell, wool, cashmere, shearling, angora, animal skin, suede, or mohair.
- Not be processed with animal products or by-products.
- Involve no animal testing of ingredients, components, or finished product by the manufacturer or independent party.
- Not contain any known animal-derived GMOs or genes used to manufacture ingredients or finished products.
Applicants must provide:
- A complete spreadsheet listing ingredients of each product (all sizes, flavors, and varieties).
- Labels of each product being submitted for review, including international labels if different.
- A signed statement from the Licensee confirming no animal testing will occur.
- A signed statement confirming products do not contain animal products or by-products while under contract.
- Official documentation from each ingredient manufacturer indicating the source of each ingredient.
- Signed statement from each ingredient manufacturer confirming no animal testing since 2009 and no intention to test in the future.
- Detailed documentation regarding machinery cleaning if shared machinery is used.
- Identification and documentation of the Licensee’s parent company (if applicable).
Product Packaging
While we do not require information on external or internal packaging, we DO NOT permit animal products or by-products inside packaging that comes in contact with the product, such as animal-derived biopolymers.
No Animal Testing
Animal testing is defined as the use of animals (live or deceased) for research, safety, feed trials, toxicity testing, or testing “as required by law” including contracted testing since 2009. This must be confirmed for all ingredients and final products.Products sold to or distributed to China that require animal testing cannot bear the Certified Vegan Logo. Personal care products made outside mainland China must show acceptable safety and no animal testing for certification.
No Animal GMOs
Products must contain no known animal-derived GMOs or genes used in the development or production of ingredients or finished products.
Required Documentation
The following documents must be submitted in English for review:
- A list of each product and its ingredients in EXCEL format, including all sizes, flavors, and varieties. Ingredient Spreadsheet Template
- Source document for every ingredient showing origin (plant, mineral, algal, bacterial, or synthetic). Information on Ingredient Source documents.
- Note: A vegan statement alone is not sufficient for a source document. Any vegan statements submitted as supporting documentation should include the manufacturer’s definition of “vegan”.
- Copies of all product labels, including international variations.
- Signed Shared Machinery Statement from the applicant.
- If shared machinery is used, documentation of cleaning methods, SOP, or procedures explaining trace ingredients.
- Signed No Animal Testing Statement from the applicant.
- Signed No Animal By-Products statement from the applicant.
- Signed No Animal Testing statements from ingredient manufacturers (not older than 3 years).
- Signed No Animal Testing statement from the final Product Manufacturer.
- Documentation for GMOs confirming no animal genes or animal-derived substances are used.
- Verification for sweeteners that they are not filtered through bone char or finished with animal products (if applicable).
- Ingredient Information Form for beer, wine, vinegar, or fruit juice products, confirming no animal by-products used – This is not required for all ingredients
- Ingredient Information Form for probiotics, cultures, vitamins, minerals, bacterial strains, and enzymes, confirming no animal products used as culture medium – This is not required for all ingredients
Note: Applications must be submitted by an employee, owner, or official representative of the product(s).
