Description

A Crispy, Air Fryer Taquito Recipe With Savory Plant Based Chick’n Filling

These easy vegan taquitos use JADA Chick’n Mix, warm spices, and melty dairy free cheese, then crisp up beautifully in the air fryer for a fast, satisfying snack or meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 package JADA Brand Original Chick’n Mix

  • 1/2 cup vegan shredded cheese

  • 4 ounces canned diced green chiles

  • 1 package 6 inch yellow corn tortillas

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried cilantro

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 tablespoon oil, plus more for spraying

Optional Toppings

  • Salsa

  • Hot sauce

  • Lime crema

  • Pico de gallo


Instructions

  1. Add the chick’n mix and all dry seasonings to a bowl.

  2. Add water and oil, stir well, cover, and let sit for 10 minutes.

  3. Pan fry the mixture in a lightly oiled skillet over medium heat until the crumbles are golden brown.

  4. Sprinkle vegan shredded cheese over the crumbles. Add a small splash of water, cover, and cook until the cheese is melted.

  5. Stir in the diced green chiles and remove from heat.

  6. Warm tortillas on a microwave safe plate covered with a damp paper towel for 25 to 30 seconds until pliable.

  7. Spoon about 3 tablespoons of filling into the center of each tortilla. Roll tightly and place seam side down.

  8. Lightly spray taquitos with oil and place in the air fryer basket in a single layer.

  9. Air fry at 400°F for 6 to 7 minutes, checking for desired crispiness.

  10. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

Reheat tortillas as needed to prevent cracking while rolling.

Do not overcrowd the air fryer to ensure even crisping.

Try adding beans, potatoes, or veggies to the filling for variation.

Serve with salsa, lime crema, or hot sauce for extra flavor.
