A Bittersweet, Smoky Cocktail That Feels Like a Reset Button for Your Evening

Some cocktails are just drinks. Others feel like a small ritual. This one firmly lives in the second category. With smoky mezcal, bitter aperitivo, and herbal vermouth softened by a bright grapefruit garnish, this cocktail is grounding without being heavy and bold without being overwhelming.

Think of it as a Negroni’s cooler, calmer cousin. It is slow sipping, low effort, and ideal for moments when you want to unplug, unwind, and let the edges of the day fade just a bit.

  • Smoky mezcal balances beautifully with bitter and herbal notes
  • Simple build with only three main ingredients
  • Sophisticated but approachable for Negroni lovers and mezcal fans alike
  • Perfect for quiet evenings, intentional sipping, or impressing guests with minimal effort

Description

A Smoky, Bittersweet Sipper with Grapefruit Brightness

A mezcal kissed Negroni style cocktail with vermouth and aperitivo, finished with a bright grapefruit swath for a smoky, bittersweet sip that feels calm, cool, and effortlessly grown up.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 oz Rosaluna Mezcal

  • 1 oz vermouth

  • 0.75 oz aperitivo

  • Grapefruit swath, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Fill a mixing glass with ice.

  2. Add mezcal, vermouth, and aperitivo.

  3. Stir well until chilled.

  4. Strain into a chilled rocks glass filled with fresh ice.

  5. Garnish with a wide swath of grapefruit and serve immediately.

Notes

Express the grapefruit peel over the glass before dropping it in for extra aroma.

Serve alongside salty snacks like olives or roasted nuts to balance the bitterness.

Try it as a slow after dinner cocktail when you want something bold but not sweet.

Swap the aperitivo style brand to subtly change the bitterness level and profile.
