Bare Masala, a family-owned spice business that uses ingredients “locally sourced from Mountain Rose Herbs and Certified Organic by Oregon Tilth,” has created a new, Certified Vegan spice blend: Pizza Blend!

Making vegan pizzas from scratch is now tastier and easier with this delicious combo of all your favorite Italian spices, while the blend is also free of the “added nonsense” from commercial spice blends! Rebecca Bolt, owner of Bare Masala, shared a recipe and how-to on using the Pizza Blend for a delicious homemade pie.

You will need:

  1. Drizzle EVOO onto bread, rub with spice blend and let marinate for a few minutes
  2. Chop tomatoes, mince garlic, chop fresh basil
  3. Add EVOO to skillet, add tomatoes and let cook for a couple of minutes, stir in minced garlic, lower heat and cover for about 5 minutes; this will become your pizza sauce
  4. Stir in basil and cook for a couple more minutes to infuse the flavors
  5. Heat griddle to medium-high and place crust spice-side-down on the griddle for a couple of minutes until the bread is warm, then drizzle a little more EVOO and spice blend to the bare side of the bread. Flip the bread and cook for another couple of minutes
  6. Place marinated crust on pizza stone or cookie sheet, add sauce, shredded cheezes, then broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and brown
  7. You can also add mushrooms, tomatoes, black olives, or other veggies of choice!
  8. There you have it, a wonderful pizza! Enjoy!

We topped ours with homemade mac and cheeze (using Chocolate Covered Katie’s caulifredo recipe) and finished with another delicious treat, a Go Max Go Twilight Bar. Dinner is all about balance…right?
