Years ago, Jasmine Leyva remembers watching numerous vegan documentaries and being impressed with the information, but disappointed by the collective lack of representation. She wanted to see people of color properly represented… not tokenized, not depicted as poor-eating damsels that need to be saved, but recognized as visible, intelligent and valuable contributors to this movement. With a background in TV production, Leyva created “The Invisible Vegan,” a feature-length documentary that explores dietary patterns in the African-American community and their relationship with plant-based eating.
Find out more on this during Leyva’s presentation on January 25th at 5:30 p.m. during Vegan72 The Big Event at the Hofheimer Building.
